Patna, Feb. 26: Hundreds of students today forcefully shut Patna University to protest the attack on law college student Sumant Samrat yesterday.

The protesters also stalled the ongoing BA examination in the university and tore up question papers.

While protesting at the gate of the university office, Vishwajit Kumar, the state secretary of All India Students’ Federation, said: “Students are not safe on the campus and anybody can come and kill any of them. We want democracy in the university and protection for all students on the campus. Criminal incidents, including eve-teasing cases, are on the rise in spite of the presence of a police chowki on the campus. The police are acting as mute spectators.”

The students’ protest marched from Patna College to the university office gate, where they banged the locked gate and tried to break it. A protester had an altercation with a police officer .
