| G Bhuiyan, chief postmaster-general, GPO-Patna, flags off the Prachar Rath — an initiative to encourage people to get their family and friends settled abroad to send more foreign currency home in the coming festive season — on Wednesday. In the next two months, the Prachar Rath, a joint initiative by India Post and Western Union, would go to various post offices in the state. Through the use of videos, posters and games,it will spread awareness about transfer of foreign currency among people in the remote villages. Its journey will end on November 30. “Till August in the current fiscal, Rs 100 crore in foreign currency had been transferred through Western Union at 225 post offices in the Bihar circle. Apart from the 225 post offices already associated with the Western Union, 144 more would be added to the money transfer network next month,” said Bhuiyan.
