Good news for fliers. Six new flights are going to be launched from the Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport in May and June. These new flights will connect Patna to Bangalore, Ranchi, Delhi and Lucknow.
Of the six new flights, four will start operations from May while one each will be operational from June and July.
IndiGo is going to start two new flights for Bangalore from May 1.
While one flight will leave Patna for Bangalore at 9.30am every Tuesday, the other one will take off from Patna airport at 11.30am on all days except Tuesday.
IndiGo flight 6E 902 will start functioning from May 1. It will leave Patna at 11.35am, reaching Bangalore at 2.05pm. The flight will be available on all days except Tuesday.
IndiGo flight 6E 902 will leave Patna at 9.30am and arrive in Bangalore at 11.50am.
IndiGo is also launching a new flight for Ranchi from May 1. Flight 6E 485 will leave Patna at 3.05pm and reach Ranchi at 3.50 pm.
Keeping in view the expected rush during summer, IndiGo is also starting a new flight from Patna to Lucknow from July 1.
This new flight, 6E 633, will leave Patna at 8.15pm and reach Lucknow at 9.10pm.
IndiGo is also launching another new flight to New Delhi from June 1 while GoAir is launching another flight to New Delhi from May 15.
Details of both these upcoming flights are awaited.
Although six new flights are going to be launched in the coming months, four existing flights will stop services in the next two months as per the summer schedule of flights. Two flights will stop from this month itself and one each in May and June.
IndiGo's flight to Ranchi (6E 5325) will stop from May 1 while the airline's flight to New Delhi (6E 204) will run till June 30.
Also, Go Air's flight G8 271 to Bangalore will cease to fly from May 1.
Another flight that will stop operations from June 1 is Jet Airways' flight 9W 724 to New Delhi.
With the commencement of these six new flights and with six other flights being grounded, the total number of flights from Patna airport now stands at around 30.
The number of flights operational from Patna airport was a meagre 10 in 2010.
Experts attribute the rise in number of flights to growth in passenger flow.
Patna airport registered 32.4 per cent growth in passenger flow in 2015-16, compared to 14.5 per cent in the previous fiscal (2014-15).
