Sign for judges & tribunal chiefs

The Chanakya National Law University organised its annual convocation on March 10, which the director of the Bar Council of Kerala, N.R. Madhava Menon, graced as chief guest. The law academician expressed concern over the stabbing of Karnataka Lokayukta P. Vishwanath Shetty. "The stabbing inside the chamber earlier this week by a litigant was a warning sign for judges of courts and tribunal chiefs across the country," said Menon.

Around 290 students received their degrees from Menon, considered the father of modern legal education in the country. Passing out BA-LLB, PhD and DPhil received the degrees on the occasion.

The university awarded medals to students on eight different categories. Akriti Gautam and Sakshat Bansal of the 2010-2015 batch, Shaleen Mishra, Kiran Kachhawaha and Shivang Tripathi of the 2011-2016 batch and Amit Kumar, Shambhavi Mishra, Bhavesh Chandra, Nadini Suman and Anwesha Tripathi of the 2012-2017 batch were given different medals.

Annual day

St Xavier's College and St Xavier's College of Management and Technology, Digha Ghat, celebrated their annual day on March 11. Education minister Krishnanandan Prasad Verma was the chief guest, while Patna mayor Sita Sahu was the guest of honour at the function. The annual theme of college annual day this year was "Champion the Truth", commemorating the centenary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi's Champaran movement.

The minister appreciated the efforts of the students and expressed his happiness over the functioning of college.

Mayor Sahu said: "I am associated with this college since its inception. So, it gives me immense pleasure to see the way this college has grown."

Psychology talk

A talk on clinical psychology was organised by the psychology department of College of Commerce, Arts and Science on March 12. The main speaker of the event was Professor Tej Bahadur Singh of Central University of South Bihar who spoke on Clinical Psychology: Practices and Prospective. "Clinical psychology is broad branch of the subject and focuses on diagnosing and treating mental, emotional and behavioural disorders," said Singh. "Some of the common disorders that can be treated include learning disabilities, depression and anxiety and eating disorders," he said.

Biz research conference

Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) organised its second international conference on business research and policy on its Mithapur campus on Friday. Academicians, researchers and professionals converging here from India and abroad presented more than two dozen research papers.

In his inaugural address, CIMP director Mukunda Das underlined the need to inculcate and cultivate research aptitude among academicians which can have far-reaching consequences not only for business and academia but for the society at large.
