Patna, July 24: The BJP MP from Patna Sahib, Shatrughan Sinha, today called on chief minister Nitish Kumar, creating a flutter in political circles.

The move comes a day after the actor-turned-politician said that Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi should vie for the prime ministerial post after seeking aashirwad (blessings) from BJP stalwart L.K. Advani.

Nitish, however, denied any “political motive” behind the actor calling on him.

“He (Shatrughan) called on me to find out about my health. He has been my friend all through and I am his admirer. He is a famous actor,” Nitish said, adding spice to the gossip of “revolt” in the BJP.

Shatrughan, of late, has been sulking that the BJP was “ignoring” senior leaders in the party.

Nitish is, apparently, in the habit of keeping the rebel leaders from his opponent camps in good humour.

Sources said Nitish called on Shatrughan many a times asking about his welfare when the latter had undergone surgery in a Mumbai hospital in 2012.

Probably, Shatrughan today retuned the gesture by calling on Nitish, who is currently under fire from the BJP.

The Patna Sahib MP had described Nitish as an “able prime ministerial candidate” only three days ahead of the split in the JD(U)-BJP alliance.

Asked about dropping JD(U) veteran Shivanand Tiwary from the party general secretary and spokesman’s posts, Nitish said: “Shivanandji is the leader of the JD(U) in the Rajya Sabha. He has not been dropped from any post. The party re-elected Sharad Yadav as its president on April 14. Automatically, the previous committees stood dissolved on April 14 itself. Sharad has chosen a new spokesman according to his choice, which he is entitled to.”
