Patna, May 26: Chief minister Nitish Kumar today took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the completion of his one-year in office, describing him as a "selfie" leader and not a "selfless" leader.
"The Prime Minister has more pictures than possibly all other Prime Ministers taken together. And yes, he has more selfies than all the ministers in his cabinet put together. Apparently, some of these have created a new global recognition for India. Really? Is this the kind of agenda people voted for? It is a typical illustration of more style over substance, more raucous about nothing than the music of change to the ears of the common man," said Nitish in a release issued today.
"People leading this government love taking selfies. Now is the time to pause and picture the real India. What the people voted for was selfless leadership and what they have got is selfie leadership," said Nitish.
He also accused Modi of betraying the people of the country in the name of " Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas (Taking everyone along and development of all)". Nitish said Modi did not deliver anything to the people and just made promises.
"Any average person can tell you what the government did not deliver. Ask a farmer, an unemployed youth, a homemaker, an informed citizen, an artisan, a daily wager, an academician or even the people who voted for the Modi Sarkar a year ago, they will have no problem in articulating what the government did not deliver," said Nitish.
Attacking Modi-led NDA government on the recent projects launched by Prime Minister, Nitish said India might have the most number of un-operated zero-balance accounts in the world after the launch of Jan Dhan Yojana.
"There are signs of unprecedented rural distress and the prices of all essential commodities are rising. The government is not serving the interests of farmers and rural poor. Unemployment among youth remains very high. Poor and backward states are facing an unprecedented resource crunch. The central government is unilaterally pulling out of or diluting critical schemes of social welfare and poverty alleviation, thereby leaving the states to fend for themselves," said Nitish.
Criticising Modi's frequent foreign visits, Nitish slammed him for not solving the border issues with Pakistan and China.
"The Prime Minister has so far visited more countries in the world than states in India and he has certainly made more foreign visits than the foreign minister of the country. Yet, the border situation with respect to Pakistan and China has worsened," said Nitish.
He also said no government in India had lost so much trust in merely one year.
Senior JDU leader and minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and Shyam Rajak also accused Modi of cheating people of Bihar as well as the nation. Coming down heavily on the Prime Minister, Chaudhary said not a single promise made by Modi during the Lok Sabha elections had been fulfilled.
Chaudhary said Modi works had sent the message of disillusion among the people. He also accused Modi-led NDA government of spreading hatred and communalism in the society.
Echoing Chaudhary, Rajak said the Prime Minister advocated maximum government and least governance in the past year.
RJD legislature party leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui said Modi was a hero of corporate houses and villain of farmers.
