Several city schools would go online to serve their students with the usual platter of holiday homework following the impromptu summer vacation because of the quake.

The Tuesday temblor prompted summer break in all the schools from May 13, making it impossible for the authorities to hand over the homework details to the students because of the time constraint. Now, most of the city schools will take the online route to inform the students about their summer coursework.

The city schools normally close for the summer break in the third week of May (May 15 to 22 with varying dates for different schools).

Loyola School principal Brother Satheesh told The Telegraph: "We will upload the holiday assignments for all classes on our official website, www.loyolapatna.org. Parents will also be notified through our SMS service. We are particular about this as the students need to keep in touch with their books during vacations."

St Xavier's High School and St Michael's High School have also opted for the online way to provide their students with the holiday homework details. Both will upload the same on their respective websites - www.stxavierspatna.in and www.stmichaelspatna.edu.in. While St Michael's would complete the formality by Friday, the students of St Xavier's would get to know about their assignments by Saturday.

Don Bosco Academy, too, has decided to upload the homework on its official website www.donboscopatna.com.

"It is good that the school is taking the online route for holiday homework. In its absence, kids become laidback," said Komal, whose son is a student of Don Bosco Academy.

The school has decided to inform parents about this during a parent-teacher's meeting scheduled for May 15 and 16.

Delhi Public School is playing it safe. It will deliver the homework details both online and offline. The principal, B. Vinod, said hard copies containing the homework details had been provided to all the parents who turned up in the school on Wednesday to collect the bags of their wards. "We will also upload the details on our website www.dpspatna.com for those who could not collect the hard copy."

Parents had to come to the school on Wednesday to collect their children's schoolbags, which had been left back because of emergency evacuation following the quake on Tuesday.
