Patna, Aug. 7: The street play continued on the legislature premises on Friday when JDU MLA Manjeet Kumar Singh played a doctor examining the DNA of BJP legislators, expectedly played by members of his own party.
The verdict? Manjeet came up with a dummy pathological report showing that the BJP's DNA was full of communalism.
During the July 25 visit to Bihar, Modi had triggered off the DNA controversy while addressing a public meeting in Muzaffarpur. Since then, JDU leaders, including chief minister Nitish Kumar, have launched an attack on him.
The Prime Minister had raised doubts about Nitish's DNA.
On August 6, Nitish had written an open letter to Modi, asking him to withdraw the DNA remark against him as the comment was seen as an insult to Bihari pride. The same day, Nitish had invited questions on the DNA issue on his Twitter handle from 5pm to 7pm.
The issue was quite visible in the Assembly, where Manjeet played the doctor's role with a stethoscope and syringe mostly used on animals. Other JDU leaders held a leaf from Manjeet's letter pad on which the DNA test report of Modi was written.
The report had 10 sections - communalism, corruption, casteism, inflation, anti-farmer, government belonging to businessmen, gimmicks, black money, government does not provide job to youths and bluff master - all of which showed 1000%.
Laukha MLA Satish Kumar Shah played the role of the BJP leader on whom Manjeet tried his hand at making a DNA report of the BJP and Modi. "From the DNA report of Modi and the BJP, it has now become clear that the party is 1,000 per cent communal and trying to terrorise the society by playing the communal card in the Assembly elections. The DNA report came from Modi Patho Diagnostics," said Manjeet, who signed and issued the DNA report.
The day Nitish had written an open letter to Modi, BJP-led NDA leaders had also issued several releases and letters, attacking him for "misappropriating the voice of Bihar as his (Nitish's) voice".
The letter jointly issued and signed by Sushil Kumar Modi, C.P. Thakur, Ram Vilas Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi and Upendra Kushwaha had said that Bihar was not Nitish Kumar and Nitish Kumar was not Bihar. The leaders had added that Modi's remark was pertaining to the political DNA of Nitish and not Bihar's DNA.
Asked about making the DNA remark a political issue, Manjeet said: "We are not making any political issue over the remark. He has insulted Biharis and for that, he must apologise and withdraw his comment. Otherwise, the people of Bihar will not only throw him out of the state but also out of this country."
The JDU leaders also shouted slogans against the BJP and the Prime Minister while showing the DNA report to the BJP MLAs who were raising slogans against Nitish over the law and order problem.
