Gaya, March 16: Pending salary of many state government employees for February is set to deprive the people of the district of the festivities of Holi.

The salaries of around 25 per cent of the state government employees, and those of Magadh University and several other public sector units for February are yet to be paid.

Sadar sub-divisional officer Paritosh Kumar said, 75 per cent of the state government employees have got their salaries. “Employees of several departments have received their salaries and the rest of them would get it cleared within this month, but after Holi,” he told The Telegraph.

The salary payment has been delayed because the offices were busy preparing the assets declaration of the state government employees, sources said.

“Besides, some offices like the district board had not paid salary to its employees for the past 32 months. Even the Gaya Municipal Corporation employees are going through the same plight for the past 10 months. Following agitations, employees of both the offices had got an assurance for payments before Holi, but it looks difficult,” the Gaya unit’s president of Bihar state non-gazetted employees’ federation, Mohammad Yusuf said.
