Gaya, June 9: Ranjeet Kumar, the teacher of a government middle school at Manjhar village under Guraru block of Gaya district might lose his job after being punished by Maoists at a jan adalat (kangaroo court).

District education officer Vinod Kumar Jha has written to the employment unit to conduct an inquiry and subsequently initiate departmental action against the teacher if found guilty.

Ranjeet Kumar is a block teacher employed by the Guraru block employment unit.

The teacher was punished at a jan adalat at Pahra panchayat under Guraru block on Thursday night for allegedly trying to outrage the modesty of a student of Manjhar middle school.

The Maoists tonsured his head, applied black tilak on his forehead and made him wear a garland of shoes before parading him through the village. The rebels had organised the jan adalat following allegation by a student of Manjhar middle school that the teacher had tried to outrage her modesty. The girl and her family members had allegedly approached the Maoists for justice. The teacher had been absent from school since June 15.
