Gaya: Road construction minister Nand Kishore Yadav and agriculture minister Prem Kumar on Saturday inaugurated a rail over-bridge at Manpur.
Ircon International Limited has built the bridge at an estimated Rs 60.5 crore. Former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi had laid the foundation stone of the bridge on August 11, 2014. The bridge is 940 metres long and 10.5 metres wide. It has three lanes.
With the construction of this Gaya-Manpur Bypass rail overbridge, residents of Gaya, Nawada and Rajgir will get a congestion-free road for vehicular movement up to Patna. Presently people take the route through Gaya town, which is time-consuming due to traffic congestion. With the opening of this bridge, all vehicles will ply directly over the railway tracks of Gaya-Dhanbad section grand chord line.
Nand Kishore said in the coming three years, a wide network of roads across Magadh division, comprising five districts (Gaya, Jehanabad, Aurangabad, Nawada and Arwal) will be developed at an approximate Rs 10,000 crore.
He added that in and around Gaya, five more ROBs will be made soon.
