The proposals for an online system of approval of building plans and payment of civic taxes through online banking would be tabled in the Patna Municipal Corporation’s empowered standing committee meeting slated for Monday.

For the online approval of building plans, architects registered with the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) would be required to upload the digital maps concerned on the website.

A software, developed by Ukaid, would check the maps, which would be kept on the website for 15 days to invite objections.

If the software does not find any error in the maps and no objections are received in 15 days, the maps would be considered approved.

A member of the PMC’s empowered standing committee said: “According to the directives of the urban development and housing department, the process of application, scrutiny and approval of building plans and maps has to be done online. The trial runs of the software were successful. A formal proposal would be tabled in the next meeting of the empowered standing committee.”

The new process would allow prospective buyers of property or flats to see the approved designs.

The second proposal to be tabled in Monday’s meeting, if approved, would enable residents to pay municipal taxes and utility bills using net banking, credit and debit cards.

The online payment platform has been developed under the e-municipality project for PMC under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission scheme.

The member of the civic body’s empowered standing committee said: “We would tie up with one or more nationalised banks to start the facility. Once the system is operational, residents would be able to make most of their payments to the civic body from their home.”

The long-pending proposal for the redevelopment of Mauryalok Complex would also be presented afresh for the approval of the empowered standing committee in the meeting next week.
