Unruly students of Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology (MIT) will be asked to pay penalty for damaging government property during a clash between two groups of students on Tuesday.

Apprehending more trouble, the MIT administration has asked students to evacuate the hostels. The evacuation order for boys will expire on Wednesday evening. However, girl students have been given two days' time to comply with the evacuation order.

Classes have been suspended till September 21 as a precautionary measure.

For now, the MIT administration is digging out details to identify students involved in the clash. They will be asked to cough up penalty.

Moreover, those students who plotted the clash would be rusticated, MIT principal Achintya said and added that he had informed the science and technology department about the clash which was an outcome of alleged caste politics.

The disciplinary committee of the MIT has been asked to investigate the incident. Members of the committee discussed the issue of tightening the noose around wrongdoers on Wednesday afternoon and supervised the hostel evacuation. The committee led by the principal has decided to summon the guardians of the students.

In a day or two, the details of those students involved in the clash will be readied. Then, the MIT will send letters to the guardians for them to meet the members of the disciplinary committee. Police have already lodged an FIR after a written complaint was lodged by the principal on Wednesday afternoon.

The Muzaffarpur district administration has deputed two sections of armed forces led by an executive magistrate to keep the situation under control. Muzaffarpur district magistrate Dharmendra Kumar said the principal had been asked to act tough against unruly students.

In Tuesday's clash, more than 25 students suffered injuries. SSP Vivek Kumar said police have been deployed at MIT to tackle the law and order situation. Patrolling, in areas surroundings the MIT, has also been intensified.
