Patna: Three licensed firearms - one .303 bore rifle and two 9mm pistols - have gone missing from the Siwan district police armoury, prompting the police headquarters to order physical verification of all armouries across the state.
An FIR was lodged with the Siwan Town police station on Sunday after a rifle, two pistols and 75 cartridges were found missing from the armoury during inspection of the police lines of Siwan by deputy inspector-general (Saran) Vijay Kumar Verma last month.
Verma on Sunday said he had directed Siwan superintendent of police Navin Chandra Jha to probe the matter.
"I found some differences in the stock register and the arms and ammunition in the armoury," he added.
