Patna, April 21: Pratyaya Amrit, a 1991-batch Bihar cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, was today conferred the Prime Minister’s award for excellence in public administration for 2009-2010.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh handed over the award to Amrit, the secretary of Bihar road construction department, at a function in New Delhi. Amrit was selected for the award under the individual category for his role in scripting the turnaround of Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam (BRPNN) as its chairman from April 2006 to July 2009. BRPNN was a loss-making unit when Amrit took charge as its chairman.
Attributing his success to his family members and the BRPNN team, Amrit, told The Telegraph over phone from Delhi: “Without the co-operation of chief minister Nitish Kumar and former road construction department principal secretary R.K. Singh, BRPNN would not have achieved this kind of success.”
