Pension vow for the disabled

The department of persons with disabilities on Wednesday celebrated the birth anniversary of American author and activist Helen Keller.

Patna: The department of persons with disabilities on Wednesday celebrated the birth anniversary of American author and activist Helen Keller.

Shivajee Kumar, the state commissioner of disabilities department, said persons with disabilities would be given adequate support by the Bihar government for inclusion in mainstream society.

He added: "The state government will provide economic support to the differently abled in the form of pensions so that they are included in mainstream society."

Besides, around 20 students from non-government organisation Utkarsh that teaches blind children participated in the programme.
