Patna: RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Saturday said chief minister Nitish Kumar can do anything to remain in power, even scrap quota if he is assured it will keep him in power for the next 10 years.
Tejashwi said that by supporting the BJP, Nitish had weakened the struggle for social justice. The young RJD leader alleged that there was a vast difference between Nitish's words and action. "Nitish has cheated the people of Bihar by supporting the BJP, he has cheated the mandate," Tejashwi said. "Every time he tries to divide society. If someone tells him to scrap quota if he wants to remain in power for the next 10 years, he will happily do so. He can compromise at any level to remain in power." Tejashwi was addressing RJD workers at the party office at an event to celebrate former chief minister BP Mandal's birth centenary year.
Amid deteriorating law and order in the state, Tejashwi sarcastically said that there was rule of law and good governance in Bihar. He was using words that Nitish uses every time a crime is reported in Bihar. "Every time he says only one thing, ' Hum na phasate hai, na bachate hai (we neither implicate nor protect anyone)' and ' Kanoon apna kaam karega (law will take its own course)'," Tejashwi said. "I want to ask how many senior officers have been put behind bars in the Muzaffarpur case. He knows everything. Who holds the information and public relations and home ministry portfolios? It is Nitishji and his department gave crores of rupees to Brajesh Thakur. Nitish ji's close aide Sanjay Jha's personal assistant's wife runs the shelter home in Madhubani. Why has action not been taken against the shelter yet?"
Tejashwi asked his cadres to be careful about Nitish's government, as girls are "not safe" and people are "extremely unhappy" with the deteriorating law and order condition. He accused Nitish of protecting the accused in the Muzaffarpur shelter home case. "Nitish ji is trying his level best to protect the accused in the Muzaffarpur case. Had we not taken the fight to Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, the case would not have got highlighted," he said.
The former deputy chief minister said youths are unemployed and the condition in every sector, from education to health to panchayat level, is pathetic.
He demanded Nitish's resignation in the Muzaffarpur case. "JDU leaders are asking for my resignation but what about the government which is involved in mass rape in Muzaffarpur. Don't you think that Nitish should tender his resignation after the Muzaffarpur incident which has brought great shame to Bihar," Teajshwi asked. He wondered how a chief minister could see minor girls being raped and assaulted and protect the accused in the case.
