
Students from 10 Patna colleges will participate in the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT)-Patna's two-day annual fest, Spectrum 2016, which starts from February 19.
Indian Institute of Technology, Birla Institute of Technology, Chanakya Law National University, Chandragupta Institute of Management Patna, Patna Women's College, Amity Global Business School, Magadh Mahila College and St Xavier's College will be the institutes that will participate in Spectrum.
Highlights of the fest include a fashion show - Mr and Miss Spectrum - and creative competitions such as wall graffiti, photography, eco poetry, creative writing, poster making, and brain teasers such as debates and quiz.
There will also be singing and dancing competitions, both solo and group.
Registrations start at 9am on February 19 on the campus.
Urban Guerra, the college band, will perform on the concluding day of the fest.
"This is our gala event which comprises fashion, food, entertainment and creativit," said National Institute of Fashion Technology faculty member Avernita. "We have framed certain rules and regulations for each contest, by which all participants must abide. There will not be any auditions for other colleges. They will have to send in the participants direcly. There will also be a time limit for every event."
Kavya Komal, a student coordinator for the fest, said various stalls will be put up, including food, accessories and for fun and games.
"The other colleges have shown a positive response. The fest will have cultural contests for students to show the best of their creative sides. We anticipate healthy competition," Kavya said.
The participating students from other colleges were looking forward to the event.
Stuti Priya, a second-year student of computer application at St Xavier's College, said she will take part in the group dance competition.
"We want to perform on a mash-up of Bollywood numbers and have practised a lot to attain perfect synchronisation," she said. "It does not matter if we win or lose. We will be there to have a wonderful time and will entertain the audience with our performance."
Anupam, a computer applications student at Amity Global Business School, said: "I am good in art. So I will look forward to take part in the wall graffiti and poster-making competition. I am prepared for the challenge, come what may."
Another student from Amity Global Business School, Raj said he would take part in the eco poetry and creative writing competitions.
For some students, the cultural fest will be a break from exam preparations.
Jyoti Singh, a second year commerce student at Magadh Mahila College whose exams will start in March, said participating in the fest would rejuvenate her.
"This will be a great event as there are various competitions that promise to be a lot of fun," she said.
