Power men to meet

Patna: The Bihar-Jharkhand Vidyut Parishad Field Kamgar Union will hold its convention this month. he union’s general secretary, Amarendra Kumar Mishra, said apart from discussing the demand of the workers, the meeting would also address issues related to shortage of energy and the need to check power theft.

BJP meet

Patna: The state BJP is trying to bring in around one lakh party workers, to the state-level workers’ meet scheduled on February 11. Initially, the party was supposed to hold the function at Gandhi Maidan in January. But it had to be postponed because of the preparations for January 26.

Park not open

Patna: New Year revellers were disappointed because Buddha Smriti Park was not open for the public on January 1, as promised. A large number of people arrived at the venue to celebrate but could not enter the park because of ongoing work.

Donation

Patna: The Bihar chapter of the Red Cross Society distributed blankets in the several parts of the city on Sunday in view of the cold wave.

Inmates fast

Patna: About 400 prisoners lodged in Sasaram divisional jail observed fast on Sunday in protest against life term awarded to Binayak Sen by a Chhattisgarh court.

Driver killed

Rohtas: Truck driver Hariwansh Yadav was kidnapped and subsequently killed by unidentified armed criminals near Tarachandi Sthan under Sasaram Mufassil police station in Rohtas district. The body of Yadav, a resident of Khalaspur Bhatauli village in Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, was recovered from Sone river under Dehri-on-Sone police station today. “We have already informed the victim’s kin about the incident,” said a police officer.
