Flights back on schedule

Patna: The Jet Airways Calcutta-Patna-Calcutta flight (9W 2853) has reverted to its old schedule and will reach Patna at 8.25am from Tuesday. It will take off from Patna again at 9am.

The Delhi-Patna-Delhi (9W 727) will also start operating on its old timing from February 21 and reach Patna at 6.50pm.

Arrest

Patna: Police on Tuesday arrested a youth for strangling his old parents to death before pouring acid to destroy evidence at Gaura village under Teghra police station in Begusarai district late on Monday night. Mritunjay Jha and his wife were nabbed for murdering Nageshwar Jha (70) and Tara Devi (65). The skeletons of the victims were recovered on the outskirts of the village.

Dispute

Darbhanga: The dispute between employees of Lalit Narayan Mithila University and Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University over a land dispute, took a serious turn with the district administration being forced to intervene on Tuesday. Senior superintendent of police M.R. Nayak visited the disputed spot and held a meeting with the police officers.

Deaths

Bettiah: Bibhu Shrivastava alias Anupam (28), a local contractor, was shot dead near Smart Gallery, on Church Road on Tuesday afternoon. West Champaran superintendent of police Nishant Tiwari said Shrivastava had criminal connection. Rinki Devi (28), wife of Ranjan Prasad, hung herself at her house in New Colony under Bettiah Town police station.

Murder

Patna: A 70-year-old priest, Yamuna Dutt Tripathy was killed by unidentified criminals at Khandricha village under Dumraon police station in Buxer district late on Monday night.

Mishap

Motihari: One person was killed and seven others, including Sonu Kumar Jaiswal, the owner of a plywood manufacturing unit, sustained serious injuries when a stamp pipe of the Jaiswal Plywood factory in Madhopur Belwa village under Kotwa police station burst, because of excess pressure, on Tuesday morning.
