Power plant boost

Patna: Energy minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav on Wednesday said the Centre has agreed to grant coal linkage for the expansion project of Barauni thermal power plant under which two additional units of 250MW each would be set up. adav, however, could not specify the coalfield from which thermal plant would get linkage.

Cancellation

Patna: East Central Railway on Wednesday cancelled 12 trains passing through Patna owing to ethnic clashes in Assam. The trains include Capital Express (13248), Awadh Assam Express (15610) and Brahmputra Mail (14056).

Judgment

Patna: Judicial magistrate Ghanshyam Singh on Wednesday sentenced Jitendra Kumar, 36, a resident of Shivpuri, to three years’ rigorous imprisonment in a 2005 kidnapping case of Samir Kumar (6).

Remand

Patna: The special vigilance judge, R.N. Singh, on Wednesday remanded Birendra Sinha, a clerk of land resources deputy collector office, Katihar, in judicial custody in a bribery case.

Limit

Patna: The presidents of Bihar Industries Association and Bihar Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday welcomed the state government’s decision to introduce a maximum limit on levy of stamp duty to be collected for registration of title deeds and equitable mortgages against commercial, industrial and housing loans.

Committee

Patna: Bihar Pradesh Youth Congress president Lalan Kumar would head a committee to inquire into issuing no-objection certificates to 45 colleges under JP University, Chhapra.

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday mourned the death of former MP and Samajwadi Party leader Chaudhary Harimohan Singh.

Admission

Patna: Patna University on Wednesday issued a notice that admission at various colleges for undergraduate courses will continue till August 6.

Report sought
