Bail for ex-PMC officer

Patna: Special vigilance judge Om Prakash Sinha on Monday granted regular bail to former commissioner of Patna Municipal Corporation K. Senthil Kumar following a Patna High Court order in connection with irregularities related to approval and scrutiny of building plans, imposing holding tax on various advertising firms and commercial buildings along with other irregularities which had led to the corporation suffering financial loss of Rs 8.76 crore. umar, a 1996 batch IAS officer, surrendered before the court and sought regular bail on Monday.

Mukhiya case

Ara (PTI): Police on Monday filed a chargesheet against six persons in the killing of Ranvir Sena chief Brahmeshwar Singh ‘Mukhiya’ in a court in Bhojpur. The chargesheet was filed in Chief Judicial Magistrate P.K. Ojha's court against the accused, one of whom is absconding. Hareram Pandey, Yogendra Pandey, Monu Pandey, Sunny Singh and Anil Pandey were either in jail or in custody, while Abhay Pandey was absconding.

Rape cry

Bhagalpur (PTI): Two sadhvis at Maharshi Mehi Ashram were allegedly gangraped by its in-charge Swami Aryanand and his associates on Sunday night, police said on Monday. The accused were identified as Aryanand, Ghanshyam Mandal, Vivekanand Sinha, Pankaj Kumar, Prem Yadav, Ratna Paswan and three other unidentified persons.

Traders’ meet

Patna: Zonal office of State bank of India organised a traders' meet on Monday in which the businessmen were briefed about various loan products offered by the bank. The bank also received proposals amounting to Rs 21 crore.

Directive

Patna: A high court division bench on Monday directed the state government to finalise within two months the state disaster management plan as per Disaster Management Act 2005 to mitigate the impact of disasters.

Commission

Patna: The urban development department on Monday set up a municipal establishment audit commission to recommend ways to improve functioning of urban local bodies.

Vigilance unit

Patna: The state government has given a green light to the reconstitution of special vigilance unit to stop corrupt practices in administration.

Child homes

Patna: High court Chief Justice Reekha M. Doshit on Monday stressed on opening children homes in each and every district of the state at the opening ceremony of a three-day sensitisation workshop on juvenile justice.
