Patna: The high court on Thursday took serious note of the alleged neglectful attitude of the municipal corporation in draining out accumulated water from various localities of the state capital and asked it to submit a report by next Monday giving details of how many employees it had deployed for the work.everal places in Patna were inundated after showers earlier this week.

Varsity name

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday sent a letter to the Union human resource development minister Kapil Sibal requesting him to name the proposed central university in Motihari on Mahatma Gandhi, who had a long association with the north Bihar town.

Power bid

Patna: Seven companies have qualified in the technical bid for the appointment of consultant to Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission. The financial bid would be opened on September 25 in the commission office.

Directive

Patna: The high court division bench comprising Justice T. Meena Kumari and Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh on Thursday directed the agencies concerned to take action on the basis of report prepared by Patna Municipal Corporation and the urban development department to recharge the declining groundwater level in the state capital. The court was hearing a PIL filed by Santosh Mehta seeking direction to the state government to prepare draft plan for recharging the groundwater level.

Death

Samastipur: A 70-year-old man, Mugal Sah, who had been critically injured at the Samastipur railway station on at night of September 16, died on Thursday in railway hospital. He was a resident of Navada village under the juridiction of Mohiuddinpur police station.

Mishap

Katihar (PTI): A truck fell off Kursela bridge on Thursday morning and landed on Kamakhya-Gandhidham Express that was travelling below. The cleaner of the truck was injured and has been admitted to hospital. Train service on the Katihar-Barauni section was suspended for four hours.
