PG entry open till July 27

Patna: Patna University (PU) has extended its schedule of admission to postgraduate (PG) courses by a week with a view to facilitate students whose graduation results have been delayed. he application forms for admission to PG courses can be submitted till July 27.

Green drive

Motihari: Tirhut divisional commissioner S.M. Raju at a meeting of government officials on Tuesday said that the social afforestation programme launched by the state government for greenery and pollution control is required to be adopted as a mass movement .

Arrests

Patna: Ten criminals, including four members of an inter-district gang, in two separate operations on Tuesday were arrested. Nine country-made firearms and a huge quantity of ammunitions were also seized, said Rohtas superintendent of police Manu Maharaj.

Promotion

Patna: The state government on Tuesday notified the promotion of nine IPS officers of 1997 and 1998 batches to selection grade. The officers are Shyam Kumar, Amit Lodha, Ratna Sanjay, Amrit Raj, K.S. Anupam, M.R. Naik, A.K. Sharma, N.P. Singh and S.I. Das.

New faces

Patna: Arun Kumar, deputy commandant of Border Security Force joined as additional superintendent of police (SP), operation, Aurangabad while S.K. Singh and Santosh Kumar assumed charge as additional SPs of Motihari and Munger respectively.

Surrender

Patna: Four persons including former inspector-general of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Puskar Singh on Tuesday surrendered in the special CBI court in connection with irregularities in the process of recruitment in CRPF.

Rupam case

Patna: Purnea district BJP President Ram Prasad Sah on Tuesday gave his witness in the Purnea BJP MLA Rajkishore Keshari murder case.

Fine

Chhapra: State information commission has slapped a fine on registrar Vijay Pratap Kumar of Jai Prakash University for not providing information regarding procedure of appointment of principals of different colleges under the varsity.

Seizure

Chhapra: Around 40kg of explosives were seized and one person arrested. Saran superintendent of police A.K. Satyarthi said the man was arrested from Amnaour from where the explosives were recovered.

Meet

Patna: NDA leaders, including chief minister Nitish Kumar, deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi and Nand Kishore Yadav attended a meeting on Tuesday.
