Cell to curb sex trade

Patna: An anti-human trafficking cell has been set up in Patna in the wake of involvement of a number of women and girls in flesh trade.atna senior superintendent of police Alok Kumar said the cell would be headed by Smita Suman, the deputy superintendent of police (headquarters).

Muzaffarpur: RJD MP Raghuvansh Prasad Singh would stage a daylong demonstration on Monday in protest of the state government’s lackadaisical attitude in helping the residents of Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Sitamarhi, Chhapra and East Champaran, who gave their lands to the railway for various projects, get jobs.

Bhagalpur: Maoists have started recruitment drives among rural unemployed youths in eastern Bihar. This was revealed by three rebels arrested by Banka police on July 16 near Loriyababa Sthan at Kashiya-Bagdhaswa forest falling under Belhar police station.

Flight off

Patna: The operation of Jet Airways Delhi-bound flight S2 290 has been cancelled at Patna airport from July 16 to July 20 owing to technical reasons. Passengers who had already booked tickets have been accommodated in another flight S2 288 of Jet Airways.

Chhapra: Labour minister Janardan Singh Sigriwal on Sunday distributed Rs 7 lakh among 341 girls students to purchase bicycles.

Celebration

Patna: Rotary Patna Mid Town celebrated the completion of its 33 years on Sunday. The club, which is a part of Rotary International, celebrated its foundation day. On the occasion, the club also organised an installation ceremony of office bearers for 2011-2012. K.K. Agrawal formally took charge as the president.

CM security

Patna: More professional and trained security personnel will be drafted for the chief minister. An elite force, Special Security Group (SSG) is being formed under the special branch of the Bihar police and they are being trained at Central Industrial Security Force’s training centre in Rajasthan. This is being done according to the SSG Act 2000, director-general of police Neel Mani said.

Course launch

Patna: JD Women’s College would start a six-month certificate course in women studies from this year. he course aims to create awareness regarding their rights and also would provide women with guidance and counselling.
