Two in net for bribe

Patna: Sleuths of vigilance investigation bureau on Thursday nabbed two government servants while they were accepting bribe. he first case is related to registration office of Munger district where accountant Indradev Choudhary was caught while he was taking a bribe of Rs 1,500. In the second, a senior clerk and one peon of the health department were arrested from the secretariat while they were taking a bribe of Rs 2,500.

Rebels nabbed

Patna: An alleged Maoist, Pappu Jha, on Thursday was arrested from Budhua Ahara village in Munger district and a pistol and 10 rounds of ammunition recovered. In a separate incident, two activists of the CPI(Maoist), identified as Mahendra Choudhary and Rahul Kharwar, were arrested during operation against rebels in Rohtas on Thursday.

Border cover

Motihari: Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has resolved to set up two more battalions in the India-Nepal border in Champaran. The SSB also plans to equip the borders with hi-tech communication system to curb anti-national and illegal activities across the border.

Land for poor

Muzaffarpur: Land reforms and revenue minister Ramai Ram on Thursday said the state government would provide three decimals of land to each landless poor family in the state. Ram stressed the government would try to accomplish the target of providing three decimals of land to each landless poor family by the end of March, 2012.

Directive

Patna: The single bench of Justice Navniti Prasad Singh of the high court on Thursday directed vice chancellor, registrar and financial officer of LN Mishra University, Darbhanga, not to undertake any kind of financial works till further orders from the court. The directive was issued during the course of hearing of a bunch of petitions filed by university employees. The matter would again be taken up for hearing after four weeks.

Setback

Patna: The single bench of justice Mridula Mishra of the high court on Thursday quashed appointments of principals of 16 colleges under the jurisdiction of Tilka Majhi Bhagalpur University. These appointments were made in September 2008.
