Elderly couple killed

B>n Patna, Oct. 29: An elderly couple were killed at Jharain village under Kadirganj police outpost in Nawada district late on Friday night. Their son Rakesh Kumar is a probationary sub-inspector in East Champaran. awada superintendent of police Surendra Lal Das said Ram Chandra Prasad, 68, and wife Rukmini Devi, 63, were murdered allegedly by Umesh Rajvanshi and his associates while the duo were sleeping.

Jail custody

B>n Gaya: The court of chief judicial magistrate Ram Sevak Narayan Pandey on Saturday sent Ranjan Yadav, the prime accused in last year’s gangrape of a Japanese tourist, to Gaya Central Jail. Ranjan was arrested yesterday from Pranpur village under Paraia police station.

Flight timing

B>n Patna: Several operators have changed flight timings from October 30 for the winter. Kingfisher’s IT-3347 operating on Delhi-Ranchi-Patna-Delhi route will depart from Patna airport at 7.35pm. GoAir’s G8-344 Delhi-Patna-Delhi-Pune flight will leave Patna at 5.10pm. Air India’s AI-408 operating on Delhi-Patna-Delhi route will leave Patna airport at 3pm.

Probe cry

B>n Patna: President of an NGO, Bihar Berozgar Council, G.N. Tiwari, on Saturday sought a CBI probe into the alleged illegal activities in the Fatuha industrial area.

Arrest

B>n Katihar: Aman Chaudhary of Mankandpur village under Gopalpur police station was arrested from Falka under Kodha police station for the murder of a retired administrative officer A.D. Bhanta, who lived in Shimla.

Special buses

B>n Patna: Bihar State Road Transport Corporation on Saturday started plying special buses to various destinations to cater to the Chhath rush. The special buses would run till October 30. The buses would connect Patna and Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Nirmali, Punhauli, Chapra and Siwan.

Cop concern

Patna: The state police headquarters have been requested to set up the Nakta Diara area. Patna city SP (central) Shivdeep Lande said the place was one of the biggest hideouts for criminals.
