Medico arrest for wife murder bid

Patna: Ankit Srivastava, a doctor at Patna Medical College and Hospital, was arrested on Saturday on the charge of attempting to murder his wife Tauhina Singh, who is also a doctor. auhina is undergoing treatment at a private nursing home in a serious condition. Secretariat sub-divisional police officer Sibli Nomani confirmed the arrest of Srivastava. He said it was being ascertained if he had attempted to kill his wife or provoked her to commit suicide. “The injury report will throw light on the issue. The report is awaited,” he said.he doctor couple were staying at Gardanibagh. An FIR was lodged with the Gardanibagh police station on the statement of Tauhina’s father Arun Kumar Sinha. Srivastava’s parents have also been named accused in the FIR.

One in net for killing cop

Patna: One Someshwar Yadav was arrested on Sunday for his alleged involvement in the murder of a retired sub-inspector Ranjit Yadav at Kalyanpur village in Bhojpur district. Ranjit (60) was killed on Saturday night following an altercation during the elections of Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies, in which the deceased brother Birendra Yadav was a contestant.

Farmer death

Jehanabad (PTI): A 65-year-old farmer was on Sunday killed by members of rival group at Devraj Vidha village in Jehanabad. The victim, identified as Satyendra Yadav, was returning to home when some people beat him over land dispute leaving him severely injured. He died in the sadar hospital. The body was handed over to his family after post-mortem.

Houses gutted

Hajipur: At least 10 houses belonging to members of Scheduled Caste were gutted in a fire, which broke out at Mandayee village under Patepur block in Vaishali district late on Saturday night. No casualty was reported.

Fire mishap

Patna: A fire broke out on the premises of Rameshwar Apartment on Boring Road on Sunday. Three fire tenders were pressed into service. No casualty was reported.

Maurya Yatra

Patna: Rashtravadi Kushwaha Parishad will take out Maurya Yatra on November 8 from Banka to commemorate the coronation of Chandragupta Maurya. It will reach Patna on December 9.

Rape charge

Munger: A twelve-year-old schoolgirl was abducted and gang raped by four youths at Devachak village in Jamui on October 28. Police said the incident came to light on Saturday after the victim was admitted to the sadar hospital in serious condition.

Power meet

Patna: Chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi is scheduled to meet Piyush Goyal, minister of state (independent charge), power, coal and new and renewable energy, in Delhi on Monday.

Train berths

Patna: East Central Railway on Sunday issued the number of berths available in the special and premium trains, which were being run to clear post-Chhath rush.

Expo launch

Motihari: Expo India, dealing with handicrafts, electronic goods, household and food products, started its two-week camp on Rajendra Nagar Bhavan ground on Sunday.
