‘Rural’ ire at BJP leader’s home

Patna: The rural development department has conducted inquiries into the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee schemes in 3,520 panchayats. There are 8,436 panchayats in Bihar. An official data released on Monday stated that so far, 2,237 show cause notices have been issued on persons responsible for the implementation of the schemes. Patna: The office of the chief electoral officer of Bihar, in accordance with guidelines received from the Election Commission, has sought objections and claims from people about the voters’ list prepared for the various graduate and teachers constituencies. The last date for submitting objections and claims is November 15. These have to be disposed of by December 26. The final publication of the voters’ list for the constituencies would be published on January 10, 2014. Patna: The Bankers’ Club organised a cultural programme in Patna recently. Senior officials, including the club’s vice-president, JD Narayan, and his family, attended the programme. Patna: The AN Sinha Institute of Social Studies Employees’ Association on Monday demanded the immediate withdrawal of criminal cases lodged against five of its office-bearers. A resolution in this regard was passed during the meeting of the association convened on the institute’s premises. The members also passed a resolution demanding unconditional apology from the director, D.M. Diwakar, for levelling false charges against the association’s president, N.K. Choudhary.Patna: A 22-year-old man was murdered in a lodge late last night.
The incident took place in the Ram Nagar area. The deceased, identified as Shailandra Kumar, was a resident of the Lakhisarai district. Police said Shailandra used to live in a room on the first floor of a private lodge in the Ram Nagar area. Last night, two persons had visited the victim’s place and had stayed for the night. This morning, the inmates at the lodge recovered Shailandra’s body with his throat slit. The body was sent for post-mortem and investigation is on.
Patna: Residents on Monday joined the ruling JD(U) at a function organised at the party office, party sources said. State party president Bashishtha Narayan Singh and MP RCP Singh were present on the occasion. Patna: Police on Monday nabbed one Dharmveer Mahto, suspected to be a hardcore Naxalite, from the Ataullah village in Patna rural. The police claimed that he had been involved in many Naxalite cases in and around the city. Patna: Special Task Force personnel on Monday nabbed two suspected Naxalites from Railway Station Road in the town. Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Special Task Force apprehended Nirmal Paswan alias Mutwar and Nandan Vishwakarma, while they were allegedly on their way to purchase arms.
