Eatery owner in jail

Patna: Judicial magistrate Amit Kumar on Wednesday sent one Gaurav Kumar to jail till December 10 in connection with the sale of illicit liquor and unlawful activity at his restaurant. team of Gardanibagh police had conducted a raid on Gaurav’s restaurant in Anisabad on November 26.

Abduction

Patna: Judicial magistrate Praveen Kumar Singh on Wednesday remanded Karan Singh, Dharampal and Naresh in judicial custody till December 10 in connection with the alleged abduction of Pranav Kumar Jha, who runs a school in Deoghar, Jharkhand. The accused, who are from Haryana, had demanded Rs 50 lakh as ransom from Jha’s family.

Remand

Patna: Sub-divisional judicial magistrate Upendra Kumar Singh on Wednesday remanded three persons in judicial custody till December 10 for allegedly selling illicit liquor at Bhavani Misthan Bhandar. The sweet shop falls under the area of Sachivalaya police station.

Arrest

Patna: Three criminals, travelling in a beacon-fitted car and posing as cops, were arrested from the Barh area late on Tuesday. Sources said the criminals worked for Naga Singh, a dreaded criminal lodged in Beur Central Jail.

Promotion

Patna: Decks have been cleared for the promotion of 133 inspectors to the rank of deputy superintendent of police. A committee approved the names on Wednesday.

Sugauli tragedy salvo

Patna: BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Wednesday charged the state government of trying to hide the fact that a hooch tragedy had caused the 12 deaths in Sugauli. odi, who visited Sugauli on Wednesday, said he had seen medical reports, which suggested that the deaths were owing to consumption of alcohol. He said he had spoken to family members of the victims and they also confirmed that the victims had consumed alcohol.

Foundation

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar would lay the foundation stone for a seven-storeyed building of Bihar State Pollution Control Board on Thursday. The building, which would come up in the Patliputra Industrial Area, would be known as Parivesh Bhavan. The new building would also have offices of central laboratory and workshop centre.

Inauguration

Patna: Indian Buildings Congress’s national president Chandra Shekhar Prasad on Wednesday formally inaugurated the Bihar Centre of Indian Buildings Congress in the state capital.

Poll drive

Patna: JD(U) national general secretary and food and consumer protection minister Shyam Rajak on Wednesday canvassed for his party’s nominees in the Delhi Assembly polls on December 4. Rajak held public meetings in localities such as Dwarikapuri, Trilokpuri, Ashok Nagar, New Ashok Nagar, Mayur Vihar Phase I, Samachar Apartment, East End Apartment dominated by the people from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Patna: Lee Martial Arts president Avinash Kumar on Wednesday said children and members of the organisation celebrated the birth anniversary of Bruce Lee at its office located at Alpan Market in the state capital. The children cut a big cake on the occasion in front of Lee’s picture.

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday expressed grief over the demise of Chhaya Devi, the wife of noted poet late Janki Vallabh Shashtri. Kumar consoled the bereaved family members.
