Hospital squatter case

Patna: Transferred Patna district magistrate N. Saravana Kumar on Friday appeared before a division bench of high court in a case related to land encroachment at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital. he high court had on Thursday expressed its displeasure over non-production of the health hub map and has summoned the Patna DM. The court had ruled that in the absence of map how it could be ascertained as to what area of land has been encroached upon.

Blast charge

Patna: Charges were framed against Indian Mujahideen operatives Umer Ahmed Siddiqui, Azharuddin Qureshi and Imtiyaz Ansari in the special NIA court in Patna in connection with the Bodhgaya serial bomb blast. The court asked the prosecuting agency to produce witnesses on August 13.

Bribery cuffs

Aurangabad: Child development programme officer Aruna Kumari was nabbed by a vigilance bureau team from Goh on Friday while she was accepting Rs 10,000 as bribe from Padmawati Devi, an anganwadi sevika. Aruna would be produced in the special vigilance court in Patna on Saturday.

Transfers

Patna: Ten police officers in the rank of additional superintendent of police and deputy superintendent of police were transferred on Friday. Additional SP Ashwini Kumar was made SP of vigilance investigation bureau, while Khairuddin Ansari, posted in vigilance bureau, would join as SP of criminal investigation department. DSPs Amit Sharan and Anand Kumar Pandey was transferred to special task force. Abhay Narayan Singh, recently promoted, will take charge as DSP in special task force. Sanjay Bharti was transferred to Arwal.

Land rules

Patna: The high court on Friday directed the state government to notify the rules of Digha Acquired Land Settlement Act, 2010, within two months, failing which contempt action would be initiated against the state.

Gandaman

Chhapra: ADJ (I) Balram Singh on Friday rejected the petition filed by Mina Devi and her husband Arjun Rai, the prime accused in the Gandaman midday meal tragedy that claimed 23 lives, to discharge them from sections dealing with murder.

English contest results

Patna: St Michael’s School announced the results of inter-house English elocution contest on Friday. lass VIII student Sankarshan Mukherjee won the competition in the first category in which students from classes VII to VIII took part. Vishwesh, a Class X student, won the competition in the second category. Vivek Kushal, Class XI student, won the contest in the category.

Plantation

Patna: The Lions Club of Patna Favourite organised a tree plantation project at St Michael’s High School on Friday.

Pension

Patna: The office of the controller of communication accounts, Bihar circle of department of telecommunications organised a pension adalat on Friday. A total 22 cases were received in the adalat out of which 16 were settled.

Workshop

Patna: The Patna circle of UCO Bank organised a workshop on new technology and new technological products.
