‘Injury’ to Gaya villagers

Gaya: At least two villagers are feared injured in an hour-and-a-half encounter between Central Reserve Police Force jawans and Maoists around 5.30pm on Monday. aya city superintendent of police Akhtar Hussain confirmed the encounter in the Bhadawar forests in Bhokha panchayat of Gaya but did not confirm if villagers were injured.

Ban lifted

Patna: The Patna University administration on Monday lifted its ban on Patna University Students’ Union (Pusu) president Anshuman Singh and Pusu general secretary Anshu Kumari from entering the varsity. They were barred from doing so for allegedly assaulting former vice-chancellor Shambhu Nath Singh.

Parlour raids

Patna: Patna conducted a raid on six beauty and relaxation parlours and a cyber café at two commercial complexes in the city on Monday. Ten women and four men allegedly involved in the flesh trade were arrested.

PMCH boost

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday formed a committee entrusted with the job to develop the basic infrastructure of Patna Medical College and Hospital.

Protest

Muzaffarpur: Lawyers of the district court, under the aegis of District Bar Association, abstained from work on Monday in protest against the police’s failure to arrest the murdered of lawyer Ram Kumar Thakur who was killed on Saturday night.

Bengali voice

Bhagalpur: Bihar Bengali Association president Captain Dilip Sinha on Sunday said the group has started to mobilise supporters to raise its voice against the government’s alleged apathy to the cause of the state’s linguistic Bengali minority.
