Patna, March 11: Around one lakh practising lawyers of the state abstained from work on Monday to protest the attack on their colleagues at Chandigarh and Jaipur. ll India Bar Council had given the call for the strike based on which Bihar State Bar Council had appealed its members to abstain from work. Patna: State education minister P.K. Shahi on Monday appealed to contract teachers’ representatives to co-operate with the government to hold matriculation examination. Purnea: The district administration on Monday has asked poultry farmers to cull chicken on their own else legal action would be taken against them. They have also been requested to co-operate with the culling squad. However, bird flu has not spread to other districts till Monday evening. Gaya: A quack, Vinod Kumar, his wife Savita and their aide Sarita was arrested under Mufassil police station on Monday for allegedly conducting an abortion on a 12-year-old girl. Gopal Mishra, a retired head master, sexually exploited the minor domestic help for six months, resulting in her pregnancy. Mishra took the girl to the trio three days ago. The girl informed her family and a case was lodged on Monday. Buxar: Some unidentified persons attacked district public relations officer Amitabh Amit while he was on his way home late on Sunday night. “No arrest has been made as yet,” said superintendent of police S.M. Jain. Patna: State BJP vice-president Sanjay Mayukh, also the party spokesperson, on Monday said the party would hold its state working committee meeting on March 16 and March 17 at Kailashpati Sabhagar. He said BJP state president Mangal Pandey will preside over the meeting, while deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, health minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey, road construction minister Nand Kishore Yadav would also take part in it.
