Hospital land order

Patna: The high court on Wednesday directed the Darbhanga district administration to take possession of land encroached upon by locals at the Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital within four weeks.

The court has also directed the state government to provide it the status quo of encroachment at other medical colleges, including Patna Medical College and Hospital and Nalanda Medical College and Hospital.

Slain jawan

Patna: Residents of Bhawrajpur village in Siwan district paid tributes to slain CRPF jawan Awadhesh Baitha (40) who was killed by suspected Maoists on a train. Baitha, posted in Arunachal Pradesh, had left for Siwan when he was waylaid and killed.

Body found

Darbhanga: Police recovered the body of Ravish Ranjan, an engineer with a private telecommunication company, from a canal under Sakri police station of the district on Tuesday.

Cop whip

Patna: Nalanda superintendent of police Sudhir Kumar Porika initiated disciplinary action against special police officer Dhananjay Kumar and removed him from the Parwalpur police station after a video showed him thrashing a girl on Wednesday.

JDU shift

Patna: RJD leader Pragati Mehta on Wednesday joined the JDU in the presence of Bihar unit president Bashishtha Narayan Singh. Mehta was the state unit president of the RJD's extremely backward class cell.
