She was the backbone for the Parivartan Rally success at Gandhi Maidan last month. On Monday, she again led from the front to celebrate her father’s birthday.
Cutting the giant cake — weighing 66 pounds to mark Lalu Prasad’s 66th birthday — is just an indication what Misa Bharti is up to. On May 15, she made sure nothing went wrong in cheering up the RJD workers during the Gandhi Maidan rally. That her hard work did not go waste was evident from last week’s Maharajganj bypoll result in which Prabhunath Singh won by over 1,35,000 votes.
On Monday, hundreds of party members, including leaders of Opposition Abdul Bari Siddiqui (Assembly) and Gulam Ghaus (Council), were waiting with bated breath for none other than Misa since 11 in the morning at the RJD office at Beer Chand Patel Marg.
The RJD state president, Ram Chandra Purbey, was also seated at the decorated office but something was amiss as no one was ready to cut the egg-less cake with party symbol, green lantern, adorning it. A “Happy Birthday” message in Hindi for the RJD chief was also written in green on the white pastry. At 11.35, clad in olive green salwar, Misa smartly got down from an SUV and entered through the Toran Dwar — decorated with marigold flowers — amid cheers of the party supporters.
When she reached the table, a green plastic knife was handed over to Misa and she cut the cake along with Purbey and Siddiqui.
About her first visit to the RJD office, Misa said: “I am feeling really good to be here for the first time.”
