Darbhanga, July 24: Sixteen out of 600 students, who took the Medha Pratiyogita Chayan Pariksha 2011 this year, were distributed cash and consolation prizes at a programme organised by Dr Prabhat Das Foundation at Chandradhari Museum in Darbhanga today.
A district-level competition for students, who recently cleared the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) Class X examination, was organised at various centres across Darbhanga on June 22.
Dr Prabhat Das Foundation had organised an examination on physics, chemistry, and mathematics for the students who had recently cleared the board examination.
State co-ordinator of the foundation Mukesh Kumar Jha said: “All the selected students would be given private tuitions if they continue with their studies in Darbhanga. We are committed to promote the students so that they could fulfil their dreams.”
On the occasion of the prize distribution ceremony, each of the top six students was given cash prizes of Rs 2,200, a copy of Oxford Dictionary, a pen and a certificate, while other 10 students were given consolation prizes, including a copy of Oxford Dictionary, a pen and a certificate.
Rikku Kumari, who had secured 84.2 per cent marks from Rajendra Prasad Girls’ High School in the BSEB this year and was placed 10th in the district, was announced the topper of the Medha Pratiyogita Chayan Pariksha 2011.
Rikku, a resident of Ajam Nagar Teacher’s Colony, told The Telegraph: “I want to be an engineer so that I can help the poor. Though I come from a poor background, I will commit myself to help the poor like Dr Prabhat Das Foundation.”
