Patna, Oct. 31: The BJP would launch a membership drive tomorrow with a goal of increasing the number of its members from 38 lakh to 50 lakh in the state.
Enthused by the party’s performance in the general election and in the Haryana and Maharasthra Assembly polls, the BJP decided to launch the six-month-long membership drive all over the country from November 1 with special focus on the states going to the polls next year. Bihar is one among them.
State BJP president Mangal Pandey said: “The party has planned to strengthen its base at grassroots through the drive. Special attention will be paid to youths and people from the marginalised sections of the society.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the BJP’s membership drive in New Delhi by releasing a toll-free number. In Bihar, the programme would start in the presence of senior leaders, including Pandey and Shushil Kumar Modi, at the state BJP headquarters.
