Bhulan Yadav, a terror in the Kosi region for a series of murder and extortion cases, was killed in an alleged gang war in Bhagalpur district on Monday night.

Alleged members of a gang led by Prabhash Yadav fired at Bhulan from close range around 9.30pm near a farm at Balaura Bahiyar village in Naugachia sub-division. Bhulan, 45, who was active in the Kosi belt for about two decades, died on the spot.

He was wanted in over two dozen cases in Bhagalpur and its adjoining districts.

Bhulan's nephew Bambam Yadav reported the incident to Bhagalpur senior superintendent of police over phone after which a team visited the spot.

The station house officer of Jhandapur police outpost Umashankar Singh said three persons have been named accused. "Raids have been launched to arrest them," he said, adding that efforts were on to ascertain the reason behind the murder.
