Patna, Sept. 27: With a view to accelerate the state’s economic growth, Bihar Industries Association (BIA) today made a slew of demands, including special financial package, to the Centre to bring Bihar on a par with the developed states.

In its resolution on industry, passed during the 67th annual general body meeting on Monday, the association said: “Bihar is still an industrially backward state and hence BIA demands special backward area status for the state on the lines of the northeastern states. A special financial package should be given to Bihar to match its growth with other prosperous states in the country and to create infrast-ructure and facilities that can attract large investments.”

Recognising the fact that getting land for industry was a big issue in Bihar, as economy here is agriculture-based, BIA asked the government to create a land acquisition policy on the lines of the Haryana government’s policy.
