Patna, Dec. 1: If you are a student of Magadh University (MU), cheer up. You don’t need to go to the university to collect your certificates, they would be sent to your address by post.
The university authorities have decided to send the certificates and other documents to students by post, said a source. They would no more be required to queue up in front of the MU head office at Bodh Gaya to collect their marksheets, pass certificates, transfer certificates or any other document.
MU vice-chancellor Arvind Kumar told The Telegraph: “The new system will benefit lakhs of students residing in other districts of the state. They face a lot of problem in getting their certificates from the head office at Bodh Gaya.” All institutions in six districts of south and central Bihar are affiliated to MU, making it the largest in the state.
Many colleges located in Patna, Gaya, Aurangabad, Jehanabad and Arwal are under MU. In Patna, AN College, JD Women’s College, Arvind Mahila College, Ganga Devi College and many others are under MU. A student said repeated visits to the university head office in Bodh Gaya to submit or pick up documents inconveniences them to a great extent.
The new system is likely to be introduced next year. Students would be required to go to the head office and submit a form containing the details of the certificates they need. The document would be sent to the student concerned by registered post. The student would only have to pay a fee of Rs 50 per delivery. Sunil Pandey, a student of AN College, said: “Such a system would benefit students to a large extent. We will not be required to make several rounds of the head office to get required documents.”
Kumar said: “Special care would be taken to ensure that the documents and certificates do not get misplaced on way. The university have a tie-up with the local post office or some courier agency to ensure the smooth delivery of the documents.”
The option of students collecting the certificates in person from a counter at the university head office between 10am and 5pm, Monday to Friday will also there. Students filling up the certificate requisition form by 2pm would get the certificate by 5pm the same day. An official of the rank of assistant controller would sit at the counter and supervise each and every requisition.
