| Devotees take out a badi prabhat pheri (morning procession) ahead of Guru Nanak Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru, in Patna City on Monday. Around 150 followers took part in the procession. The march was taken out from Takht Shri Harmandir Sahib Gurdwara around 4.30 in the morning and it covered several areas of the town. The devotees sang kirtans and bhajans and chanted the spiritual leader’s name throughout the tour. The procession covered Hajiganj, Marufganj, Morcha Road, Patna Sahib railway station, Chowkshikarpur, Mangal Talab, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk and returned to the starting point, around 8.30am, covering nearly 5km. The anniversary celebrations had started a week ago. The birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru would be celebrated across the country on Wednesday. Picture by Sachin |
