| A student of AN College closely watches the ball in the final of the institution’s Twenty20 cricket tournament between the psychology and the economics departments of the institution on Tuesday. The psychology department players defeated their economics counterparts by 48 runs to lift the trophy. Batting first, the psychology department made 198 runs losing six wickets and the economics department were all out at 150. Deepak Kumar, a student of the economics department, won the Man of the Match award for taking five wickets and scoring 50 runs. College secretary Chandan Kumar Bhaskar said: “The tournament, which started on March 6, was organised by the college students’ council. Almost every department — geography, mathematics, business administration and sociology and others — participated.” Campus tournaments like this are generally hit by violence. But contrary to popular belief, not a single case of violence was reported throughout the eight-day tournament. Principal Haridwar Singh appreciated the initiative taken by the students.
