Patna, June 3: Depressed over his ladylove’s marriage, a 25-year-old youth committed suicide hanging himself at his house in the Indrapuri area under Patrakar Nagar police station.

The deceased, Anurag Chandan, was a contractual employee of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). He was posted in the finance department.

The house in which Anurag lived belongs to one Uday Kumar Singh, a resident of lane number 3A of the Indrapuri area. Anurag and his younger brother Rajiv Kumar, 20, rented two rooms. Their father, Uma Prasad Singh, is a resident of Begusarai district and works in a private firm in Vaishali district.

Last night, Anurag and his brother slept in two different rooms.

“Rajiv woke up in the morning and saw the door of Anurag’s room closed. He knocked on it but there was no response. Rajiv got scared and informed his neighbours. The door was opened by force and the body of Anurag was found hanging from the ceiling fan. He had used a towel to hang himself,” a police officer at the Patrakar Nagar police station said.

Before retiring to bed, Anurag had called his mother last night to enquire about her health and requested her to come to Patna, said the source.

The police have found a two-page suicide note written by Anurag in his room.

“The note describes how he was madly in love with the girl. But the girl’s name was not revealed in his letter. He wrote that the girl got married on Thursday and now there was no purpose for him to live. The letter is quite descriptive in nature but does not reveal the identity of the girl,” the police officer added.

The police have also recovered a diary, which describes his romance with the girl from the time he met her till they parted ways.

Sources said the news of his long-time girlfriend’s marriage on Thursday had depressed him very much. He had stopped talking to his friends and brother. He even cut down on food.

The body of Anurag has been sent for post-mortem.

“There is not much to investigate but the procedure will be followed,” the officer added.
