Police on Monday busted a gang involved in looting petrol pumps, including the one at KG Fuels in Khagaul last month. Cops arrested Anish Kumar alias Choti and Abhinay Kumar alias Monu.

Patna City SP (west) Ravindra Kumar said: "We have cracked the loot case at KG Fuels." On January 21, two criminals looted cash worth Rs 2.5 lakh from a pump at Alimuddin Chak under Khagaul police station area around 2.30am when two employees were on night duty."

The duo reached the petrol pump on foot, flashed a pistol demanding cash and the cellphone from the petrol pump owner. The two snatched the keys of the main office and looted the cash. They took away a laptop and a mobile phone from the outlet and fled towards the Neora side.

Ravindra said: "Based on the location of the stolen mobile phone, police nabbed Anish and Abhinay." The SP claimed that Anish, a native of Gaya, had conducted a recce of the pump before committing the crime. He occasionally used to visit Patna as his sister was a resident of Jagdeo Path. Ravindra added: "The police are probing if the gang was involved in other petrol pump loot cases too."

Jewellery theft

Jewellery worth more than Rs 1 lakh was stolen from the house of a journalist at Punai Chak under Shastri Nagar police station area on Sunday night.

Shastri Nagar police station SHO Virendra Yadav said: "The incident occurred at the house of Sarvesh Kumar Singh."

The incident occurred when Singh and his family members were not in the house. The incident came to light on Monday afternoon when Singh and his family reached Patna from Aurangabad. The criminals had stolen jewellery by breaking the wardrobe where it was kept.
