Second and third year students of the department of mass communication, Patna College, welcomed the department freshmen on Thursday with a programme cum party especially for them. The senior students organised songs, dance and cultural performances.

The programme was inaugurated by college principal Dharmsheel Prasad. "Such introductory parties allay fears among juniors and develop a friendship between the seniors and juniors," said Dharmsheel.

The seniors performed to a number of popular Bollywood songs including, "Aaj blue hai pani", "DJ wale babu", "Chitiya kalaiyan" and "Muskurane ki wajah tum ho", but the obvious highlight of the event was the crowning of Mr and Miss Fresher. There were three rounds for the event - an introduction, a ramp-walk and a dare. Abhishek and Ujwal were crowned as Mr Fresher and runner-up respectively, while the Miss Fresher title was bagged by Shreya. Riya was the runner-up for the Miss Fresher title. Head of the department Shardendu Kumar presented the sashes and crowns to the winners.
