One of the teenagers, a named accused in the June 14 minor gangrape case who was on the run, surrendered before the chief judicial magistrate’s court on Friday.
The court sent the 18-year-old to Beur Central Jail on a 14-day judicial custody.
Another boy, also a named accused, who had surrendered in Chhapra on Thursday, was presented before the same court on Friday. But the court sent him to the juvenile justice board when he was found to be a minor.
He allegedly made the CD from the video footage of the incident and was blackmailing the girl. Ranjita Sinha, the station house officer of the Women’s Police Station, also the investigating officer of the case, said: “The board sent him to the Gai Ghat remand home in Patna City.”
Two more boys, including the prime accused who is said to be the victim’s boyfriend, were being brought to Patna, the police said. “The main accused had surrendered in Shimla on Wednesday night. The other boy surrendered at Jalandhar in Punjab on Thursday. Police teams from Patna will bring them back within two days,” said Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Amrit Raj.
He added that a team of the Forensic Science Laboratory was sent to the Rajvanshi Nagar flat, where the crime was allegedly committed, on Friday for carrying out investigations. The victim guided the team, which seized a bedsheet and some clothes from the flat. The police had been to the flat on Thursday as well. “The police checked the flat thoroughly. Investigations are on,” another police officer said.
Sources said the flat belonged to another boy, whose name doesn’t figure in the FIR. He surrendered late in the night. “The boy’s father is an engineer in a government department in Jharkhand. Preliminary investigations indicate that the boy used to stay in the flat and rent it out to people,” the police officer said.
