
Patna, Jan. 16: The state chapter of Confederation of Indian Industry organised an awareness session on the Startup India campaign launched in New Delhi today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Coinciding with the programme launch at Vigyan Bhavan, delegates in Patna concentrated on the importance of new start-ups in the state at the awareness session titled "Panel discussion on Start up India: Stand up India". Among the panellists were Sammaan Ventures Ltd chief managing director Irfan Alam, Mars Group of Companies managing director D.P. Singh, Amrapali Foods Ltd director KPS Keshri, Banka Silk founder Udyan Singh, Bihar Industries Association (BIA) vice-president AKP Sinha and deputy director, industries, R.K. Thakur.
They discussed the need to open new businesses in Bihar and the factors required for entrepreneurs to succeed.
Alam said: "Liberalisation and globalisation have opened windows fit for business expansion and growth. New technologies and platforms have given entrepreneurs a plethora of new ways to convert their business ideas into reality."
He focused on the essentials for young entrepreneurs and listed the skills crucial to their success at garnering the targeted customers.
Keshri, the Amrapali Foods director, said: "The growth in primary and secondary sectors help boost a state's economy. The quality of life of the people in Bihar will improve only when a network of industries is created to get maximum gain from agriculture and other avenues. Confidence-building measures are necessary for entrepreneurs to set up micro, small and medium enterprises."
While speaking on the Centre's new campaign for start-ups, BIA vice-president AKP Sinha also said a venture park incubator has already started on the organisation's premises in Patna in collaboration with the state government. "It provides a conducive environment for successful development of start-ups by providing entrepreneurs proper guidance and specialised services. It is a platform for successful and experienced entrepreneurs to mentor young start-ups with their domain expertise and experience," he said.
