Bihar Rajya Jal Parishad (BRJP) is doing its best to drain out the water that accumulated on the streets after the record rainfall on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

The BRJP has 36 pumping stations across the city with 125 pumps, including 26 that run on diesel and the rest on electricity. Eight out of the 36 pumping stations — two each at Kurji, Rajapur Pul and Mandiri and one each at Anta Ghat and Pahari — are seasonal.

An official of the parishad said: “The capacity of the pumping stations is in the range of 270hp to 425hp. We expect to drain out the excess rainwater in four to six hours after the downpour stops.”
