Patna, Jan. 17: Chief minister Nitish Kumar’s wish to have a dish from Bihar on every plate in the country and Rabindranath Tagore’s ties with the state have been approved as themes for Republic Day tableaux.
The cabinet co-ordination department has approved the themes of 13 departments that would display their tableau during the Republic Day parade at Gandhi Maidan. The Bihar State Milk Co-operative Federation has followed Nitish’s wish for their tableau by selecting a theme on presenting Indians an item from Sudha Dairy.
On the other hand, the information and public relations department has selected Tagore’s 150th birth anniversary and his ties with Bihar as its theme. “A group of girls dancing to Rabindrasangeet would follow a truck carrying a life-size statue of Tagore. The tableau would include a replica of Visva-Bharati University, Shantiniketan. It would show some students studying under a tree and standing with their degrees. A replica of Gitanjali will also be on display,” an official of the department said.
District magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh said the remaining 11 participants included the agriculture directorate, Bihar state health society, Bihar State Disaster Management Authority, Bihar State Pollution Control Board, Bihar Education Project and the departments of SC/ST welfare, information technology, industries, tourism, art, cultural and youth affairs and co-operatives.
The agriculture directorate and State Health Society, Bihar, have selected bio-farming and immunisation as their respective themes.
Urban pollution and its management, a disaster-free Bihar, Mukhyamantri Mahadalit Radio Yojana, industrial development in progressive Bihar, museum, Samjhe Sikhen, Kalchakra Puja, procurement of paddy and the functioning of Vasudha Kendras are the other themes for this year’s parade.
Singh also said the departments have been issued instructions on making the tableaux.
“The height of the tableaux should not exceed 15 feet and the trucks should not be crowded with people during the parade,” he added.
