Banka: Banka police have busted a motorbike-lifters gang, including two minors, who would sell the stolen bikes for quick cash.

The police said the gang had nine members of mostly school students, led by a Class X student.

The other seven members are aged between 18 and 21 years. Five bikes were recovered from their possession. Officers said the gang would lift bikes from the neighbouring districts and sell them at low prices.

Rakesh Kumar, Bounsi police station house officer, said the police had information of the gang conducting an auction of the stolen bikes on the CND High School campus on July 16.

A special investigation team conducted raids in plainclothes on Sunday and caught the student. The police said the student - a resident of Bihpur in Naugachhia - confessed to have stolen three bikes from Bhagalpur.

The minors have been forwarded to a remand home while the rest have been sent to Banka district jail.
